Attack of the Zombie Virus

Well what a strange world we find ourselves in at the moment! I haven’t been here for a while because many things have happened and now we live in a very weird post apocalyptic dystopia…. OK not quite that bad, but its certainly strange right? So dear followers, where to start? Well the last time I wrote anything, I was living with family over Christmas waiting for my new house to go through. Fortunately that all went well and I moved into my new home in January, although it still took me a while to move everything out of storage, who knew I had so much stuff! Of course once I was starting to get settled someone sent us a virus and we all had to stay inside. Still I had plenty of unpacking to do and organising, so it was a good opportunity. I did however plan on taking the van away to the Lake District but that’s now on hold until, well, who knows.

However, it isn’t all bad. My new home is very much in the country compared to my old one, so a couple of hundred yards from my back door are fields, and more fields, and plenty of footpaths and places to walk and run with the dog. In fact if I had to pick somewhere to be holed up in for the next couple of months, I couldn’t have picked anywhere much better (unless it was a hotel with a swimming pool, a games room, and an endless supply of takeaways!) Unfortunately due to the outbreak of COVID-19 we have had to close the salon for a while and furlough all the staff (new word of the year – furlough- no one knew what it meant before) So I am stuck at home, with very little to occupy my mind and just a shed full of boxes to work through. My first thought was to panic, run around, try to learn new skills, try to stay in touch with the world and promote my business wherever possible. That soon came to an end when I realised the futility of promoting something that was closed for the foreseeable future. My next thought was to learn a language, or take some courses online, which I did for a while, however I am currently in the “I’m having a holiday phase” of lockdown and mostly playing games, reading books, walking the dog and drinking anything I can find. Its important at times like these that we pay attention to our needs and focus on becoming stronger emotionally and mentally because once we come out of this there will be a lot of work to do to bring things back to normal. Whatever normal is.

So for those of you who are stuck at home, either in isolation, on furlough or working from home, remember to keep yourself healthy and active. I am passionate about keeping people fit and mobile long into old age and have started to produce a series of videos talking about how you can stretch and keep moving. You can find them on my you tube channel and on my facebook page. I’ll add some links at the bottom of this and attempt to add them as a separate page at some point too.

So, my friends stay safe, try not to infect one another and remain positive.

Until next time….
